Children's Clinical Research Facility

The NIHR/Wellcome Trust Manchester Children's Clinical Research Facility (CCRF) at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital opened in November 2009. It is the first specialist paediatric clinical trials facility in the North West and one of only a small number across the UK.

The new unit has six beds and access to the children's hospital's state-of-the-art equipment and highly trained nursing staff, so that children can take part in inpatient studies of new therapies and medicines alongside their ongoing treatment.

The facility offers paediatric medicine experts, and pharmaceutical companies developing new medicines, a specialist facility which complies with all current clinical trials and research legislation.

Dr Nick Webb is the Director of the facility. If you are a researcher, principal investigator or company and would like to apply to run a trial at the CCRF, please initially contact the Research Study Manager on +44 (0)161 906 7517 or RSM@wtcrf.nhs.uk.

Further information can be found on the Children's Clinical Research Facility website.

The CCRF works in partnership with the Greater Manchester, Lancashire & South Cumbria Medicines for Children Research Network who help to facilitate approvals on behalf of researchers. The network team also conduct studies in the facility.
